Helping Women feel comfortable and confident in their new post-mastectomy bodies

Just because you just left the OR, that doesn't mean you can't look cute - Melanie DiSalvo

We are so excited to introduce you to a brand and founder creating BEAUTIFUL intimates for post-mastectomy bodies. Introducing nu:titty and the incredible Melanie DiSalvo.

After working in fashion supply chain for 15 years and becoming a manufacturing influencer (yes, that’s a thing - she has over 170k followers on Instagram that follow her through factories all over the world), and she underwent her own prophylactic mastectomy in 2023.

Through her personal experience, it became painfully obvious that bra companies forgot who they were designing for - real women.

Because the truth is, on this very unfair journey, we are losing a piece of ourselves, not just physically but emotionally. So she created nu:titty, hoping to help women feel comfortable and confident in their new bodies.

In her own words:

Part of the reason I created nu:titty was to help women on this journey back to "normalcy", whatever that means. Being offered ugly, poorly designed bras after surgery felt like society was saying well, you don't have real boobs anymore, so you don't need nice things. I never thought something as trivial as a bra could hold so much weight over my mental health. But, it can. nu:titty is meant to help women feel confident in their journey - not ashamed.
The collection is based around the Flirtie Foobie style, I really wanted to create something that looked like real lingerie, that women would want to wear, even if they hadn't just had a surgery. I made the style using 2 layers of power mesh, and 1 layer of stretch lace. The layers create needed post surgical healing compression, while also allowing for optimal airflow to stay cool. The elastic bands are extra stretchy and anti-dig, and the band is extra wide to prevent uncomfortable pinching. Every set in the collection comes with matching underwear, because, why not?

The collection:

Volume 1: Made For The First Month Of Recovery

Bra features include front hook and eye closure for easy access, elastic free no dig designs, and super stretchy fabrics that offer post surgical compression but feel like you aren't wearing anything at all.

Volume 2: Created For The Next Phase Of Your Recovery Journey

The same ultra comfy fabrics you know and love with a few upgrades like pockets for padding or prosthesis, and special design features to better accommodate your new foobies.

We asked Melanie for some tips on feeling like yourself again when battling breast cancer:

"I would say be patient. It takes time. And try not to listen to others with the 'I got my drains out after only 5 days instead of 12' or 'I was running 3 miles 1 month out of surgery'.  It took me almost a year to really feel 'back to normal', and still there are some days where it's hard.

I am optimistic for a future where, one day, there will be a cure for cancer, and nu:titty won’t be needed anymore. But, until then, we all deserve better."
